The League of Legends Season 11 livestream also teased TFT Set 5.

Teamfight Tactics probably got the least amount of new information dropped during the new League of Legends livestream to kick off the start of Season 11. There were some discussions about the mid-set update as well as the esports side of TFT, but the news that made most Tacticians sit up in notice was the news of Teamfight Tactics Set 5.

Set 5 will, apparently, be dropping sometime during the Spring of 2021. Given that the mid-set update hasn’t even gone live yet, I would guess it will be at least early-to-mid April when Set 5 goes live. While we didn’t get a ton of looks at any new mechanics that will come with the new set, we did get some great information about the theme, champions, and a brand new mode!

A Darker Theme

Set 5 will bring the players into a setting full of corruption and a battle between good and evil. Most of the splash arts for champions that were teased are darker and more mystical in nature than the Spirit Festival or Festival of Beasts that we saw in Set 4, so expect for Set 5 to be a bit darker.

Though we don’t know exactly which champions or traits are coming to TFT Set 5, we did get glimpses of a few champions that are likely to be featured in Set 5. Among them are:

  • Volibear
  • Garen
  • Darius
  • Morgana
  • Viego
  • Teemo
  • Riven

Turbo Mode

The biggest announcement for TFT Set 5 is the introduction of Turbo Mode. This will allow you to play a game of TFT in a much shorter time period.

Riot did clarify that this turbo mode is a completely separate mode from the regular TFT, so I would also assume that this will not replace or supplement ranked. Perhaps, down the line, they may decide to make a TFT ranked mode, but for now we should be excited to see that we’ll get to play more games of TFT on the go in a quicker mode.
