4. Ian Victor “FBI” Huang (100 Thieves)

FBI was one of the best stories of 2020, a young, up-and-coming ADC from Oceania who burst onto the LCS scene with a strong performance. So strong, in fact, that we considered him a dark horse MVP candidate late into Summer 2020. And certainly, FBI’s performance last year was deserving of having his name mentioned among the top-tier ADCs.

In particular, he was an impressive laner during the 2020 season. He averaged a 10 CS lead at 15 minutes and his matchup-adjusted gold plus experience differential at 15 minutes was 243.9. One issue is that those lane leads resulted in a slightly below average GPM of 425.

Another issue for FBI is that his champion pool is among the smallest for ADC players. He played only nine unique champions last year and did not have any that he would be considered to have elite performance on.

Part of the reason for that might be that his 3.26 aKDA (caused by 1.7 deaths per game, higher than average for ADCs) precluded him from being considered elite. Of his top five ADCs by pick rate last season, only three of them had a KDA over 3.00 and only one had a KDA over 4.00. That’s not too impressive considering how small his champion pool was.

That said, FBI was still a strong ADC in terms of damage output. His 618 DPM was the highest in the role, but his EDD was only 9.0 because of those high-damage champions he tended to play (Aphelios and Ezreal were his top two and he played them in 20 out of 51 games). Ultimately, FBI still has a ways to go if he wants to be among the best ADCs in the west.
