LCS 2021: Bjergsen Reported To Be Next Mid Laner For TSM In 2022
Could we see Bjergsen back on TSM for the 2022 season?
Previously it was reported that former TSM all-star mid-laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg would be making a return to pro play, sources are now saying that it’s confirmed he’ll be making a comeback in 2022. It’s now rumored he’ll also be reclaiming his role in the mid lane for TSM. It’ll be a delight to see the Bjergking back on the rift wearing a TSM FTX jersey as they attempt to make a push for the top spot in the World.
If the rumors are true and Bjergsen is really coming back to TSM, this may be the piece that puts them over the top for the 2022 season. The announcement of his retirement came as a shock to many who follow the LoL competitive scene. He undoubtedly retired on top, he led TSM to a first-place finish in the LCS 2020 playoffs despite a very early exit from Worlds.
As the head coach of the new-look squad, they showcased the huge potential for what the future will look like. TSM finished top two in each of the 2021 splits and took home a third-place finish at the Mid-Season Showdown. They’ll be missing out on Worlds this year but can come into next season with a bang and that’s what makes the Bjergsen return so scary.
Unfortunately, there’ll need to be some retooling done to make the change work. Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage, one of their top two players will have to take a bench position or role swap to make this work. It’s very unfortunate because of how much he offers to the team but it didn’t matter who was in that spot, they’d always be taking a backseat to Bjergsen.
We’ll see how the reports develop since it’s still unconfirmed that he’ll be joining TSM. But with him being a partial owner of the franchise, it’s hard to think that he’d waste his time building up another brand.
