League of Legends made the right call when it comes to focusing on reworks rather than do mini class updates. This bolds well for older champions getting well-deserved updates.

Whether you’re waiting for Aatrox for a complete rework or hoping Azir finally becomes viable again, League of Legends is making the right call when it comes to a new focus on champions. In an article written by Ryan Gilliam for The Rift Herald, he confirmed via developer Reav3 that big changes are coming to how they update and rework champions.

Instead of developers focusing on overall class updates, they will focus on doing complete reworks for champions that are in need of them. Some champions simply lost their appeal and aren’t being played enough since they stand no chance against newer and updated champions.

Even though class updates are important, it doesn’t do much for older champions that aren’t viable in their expected roles. Sometimes they are played as off meta champions in different situations to mixed results instead of a consistent and dominant role. The truth of the matter is, League of Legends once again gets it right in the grand scheme of things.

Not only did they listen to the community but they’re doing what is right for the benefit of bringing even better gameplay to League of Legends.

Everyone remembers their first few champions they played but due to other champions rising to the top of the charts due to their updated kits, a plethora of characters have gotten lost.

Reworking champions will not only make them be played more consistently but also breathe life into a game that seems to have the same META champions for long periods at a time. At the end of the day, it’s all about competitive gameplay that is defined by skill, teamwork, and execution.

Gamers can’t do much with a champion that is either broken or aged to the point of being ineffective. At least now, developers will study the trends and data about unpopular champions and especially those that are in dire need of updates to their kit and overall effectiveness in the Summoner’s Rift.
