Breaking down all the big changes coming to Runes
This upcoming Fall, League of Legends plans to revamp their entire Runes system to help bring clarity and above all else, unique play styles for Summoners everywhere.
At its current state, the Runes system in League of Legends is good but not where developers would like it to be. Originally, Runes were supposed to be uniquely set by Summoners based on their style of play to encourage a plethora of different results towards success.
Unfortunately, Runes aren’t bringing the kind of results that developers were hoping to see. It seems that players are using META Runes specifically to win with certain champions, not necessarily their style of play. Come this Fall, however, all that is about to change.
In an article written by Ryan Gilliam of The Rift Herald, he confirmed the different paths in the Runes Reforged update set to hit League of Legends this upcoming Fall. Unlike how Runes are now, the ones you select for your account will have a major impact in the Summoner’s Rift. Summoners will also get an option to have a secondary path.
Below is a list of all the different paths one can choose:
- Domination
- Inspiration
- Precision
- Sorcery
- Resolve

By the looks of it, expect to see these changes bring some original and interesting builds to League of Legends. Off-meta builds should actually work since again, these are custom tailored to each unique Summoner based on how they play.
Whether they want to focus on dishing out more damage or regenerating health while out of combat, this new Runes update will have a bit of everything for everyone. The best feature of this upcoming update is how once it’s added, Runes will be fully available for everyone, regardless of level.
Overall, this new update should produce some amazing new styles of play that actually matter in the grand scheme of things. With everyone on the same playing field, regardless if you’re Level 1 or Level 30, Summoners will undoubtedly enjoy all these great new changes to Runes.
