In League of Legends, most Summoners enjoy the thrill of racking up kills like there is no tomorrow, sometimes even ignoring objectives. Remember, it’s all about objectives over kills.

We’ve all seen it before. You win your lane in League of Legends and are barreling down looking forward to your upcoming victory. Next thing you know, another member of your team is on an incredible kill streak and no matter what the enemy does, can’t seem to go up against them and survive.

As you finally break through into the enemy’s base, said teammate doesn’t care for taking down towers or even inhibitors. Instead, they’re simply toying with the enemy in hopes of again, adding on more victims to their kill streak or at least trying to, and don’t even bother with the main task at hand.

In the grand scheme of things, League of Legends is all about teamwork, execution, and successfully completing objectives. Kills are great and all but if you’re behind in CS, you’ll have a tougher road ahead. If you’re not taking down towers or at least chipping away at them, you’re going to be behind.

Most importantly of all, if you’re putting an emphasis on stacking up kills when you’re just a few moments away from ending a match, it’s a critical mistake that will come back to haunt you.

If your team wipes when you’re literally inside the enemy base, expect to see the enemy team come back with a vengeance and often times end up winning due to such a dire mistake.

Too many times a match is on the verge of being over but Summoners that are on the winning side of things forget that it doesn’t take much for the enemy to mount a comeback. It happens more often than you think as it’s always best to remember a golden rule in League of Legends: objectives over kills.

Focus on your CS, taking down towers, inhibitors, and eventually the enemy nexus to end a match every opportunity you get. Kills won’t mean much if one is negligent in focusing on those core objectives. Don’t let your final KDA be the only thing you think about when it’s time to put the enemy away once and for all.
