At the end of a competitive match in League of Legends, it would make total sense to bring back honoring opponents again.

We’ve all seen it before in League of Legends. We join our friends or get matched up with fellow Summoners near our rankings to go do battle in the Summoner’s Rift. You’ll win some and lose some but in the grand scheme of things, going up against good competition doesn’t mean they were cheating or using bots against you. If anything, it would be great to show humility even in defeat since talented players can go the distance and outplay you.

Remember, League of Legends is one of the most competitive games in the world when it comes to online gaming. Yes, the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena kind of format for games isn’t for everyone but at the end of the day, gamers put a countless amount of hours to prepare, train, and hone their craft towards greatness.

Before the big honor update patch not too long ago, Summoners used to be able to honor an opponent after a match for giving them good competition. Unfortunately, after this big update, it’s no longer an option as Summoners are only able to honor a teammate after a match is over.

While it makes sense to only keep honor between teammates, that takes away a huge aspect of what League of Legends is all about. For a community that is still toxic, especially to new gamers, it’s important to remember that competition is the heart of this game.

When going up against a top player that simply was better than you, it would be beneficial that maybe when a Summoner hits Honor Level 4 or even higher, they have the ability to not only honor a teammate but also the enemy champion they were going up against.

Not only would this go a long way to recognize opponents that performed well against you but also show that good competition only makes you better in the game. Matches won’t always end in your favor but if your opponent was that good, it’ll be great to give them a thumbs up for a job well done.
