League of Legends will finally now have 14 free champions to use that change on a weekly basis.

For years now, the free champion rotation in League of Legends has served a great purpose for Summoners everywhere. Not only does it give champions that are free to use for a week, but it shows you everything they bring to the table without actually purchasing them.

The only problem was, for a while now there wasn’t enough variety to choose from. Developers did their best to mix things up between various roles per week. For those that main a primary and secondary role, sometimes only a champion or two would be available in another role to test out.

Needless to say, it felt a bit limited when again, the goal was to give Summoners a chance to try something new and give opportunities to learn other roles in the game. Now, the free champion rotation has officially been expanded to 14.

In the grand scheme of things, this is a huge step in the right direction. Before this change, only 10 champions would be free to use but with four more now added per week, it will undoubtedly get some of the lesser known champions more exposure to pick up their play rate.

The plan will now be to always have 10 percent of the current champion roster free to play to bring more knowledge to the overall player base. Not only could a free champion be a future new main for a Summoner, but playing with them for a bit will also teach their abilities which will come in handy if you ever have to face them in battle.

Overall, this is a great idea that further makes League of Legends the top MOBA in the gaming industry. More champions that are free to use means more opportunities to check out other options besides the META that everyone seems to gravitate to.
