Champion specific missions aren’t fun or engaging when heavily required and should be removed completely from League of Legends.

When missions were first announced in League of Legends, Summoners were undoubtedly excited for working through them. Most of the time when completed, they’d reward an icon or items used to craft specific Loot but most importantly, missions broke up the usual routine of queueing up just for the Summoner’s Rift.

The biggest problem from the start was how missions required the use of a specific champion in order to get them completed. In the grand scheme of things, this is an issue when it comes to the main purpose of missions. It should be about kills, assists, gold, and other key objectives of a match, not winning as a certain champion that sometimes a Summoner won’t know how to play as or has no interest in at all.

It makes more sense to make missions specific on events and objectives in them. A better case is the current Arcade Boss World Event which has the majority of missions focused on winning matches, killing a certain amount of minions, and earning lots of gold all throughout the process.

Yes, some missions require facing against or playing as one of the new arcade bosses but again, it’s not mandated as heavily as it was from the start with the Kayn and Order vs. Chaos events. Perhaps developers saw that making those first batch of missions champion specific was a letdown since not everyone likes to play as certain champions or the main roles they play in the Summoner’s Rift. It’s hard if you main the top lane but have to learn a jungle or mid lane champion just to get a mission completed since some have a steep learning curve.

Developers should remove champion specific missions and focus on making them more broader during new events introduced into League of Legends. The possibilities are endless and when done in a limited time only fashion will deliver greater results and full completions.

Overall, while developers got it right with the concept of the entire missions update, it’s far from perfect. As it continues to get tweaked and changed over time, once they follow suit of other popular games that have missions and quests, it’ll only get better.
