In case you missed it, the popular tanking item Gargoyle Stoneplate had a pretty big health glitch that was finally fixed in the League of Legends patch update 7.17.

For all you tanking Summoners out there, you’ve more than likely seen the huge glitch that hit Gargoyle Stoneplate a while ago. Basically, the popular tanking item would have a double proc to give 20 percent more health when it came to pairing it up with Cinderhulk. The bonus health from both combined was overpowered, to say the least.

If you were on the opposite end of those carrying both Gargoyle Stoneplate and Cinderhulk, you undoubtedly felt that no matter what you threw at an enemy champion, nothing worked. Luckily, developers fixed the glitch in patch update 7.17 by addressing the bonus health effect.

Keep in mind that developers are not done tweaking Gargoyle Stoneplate since they want to ensure it’s balanced and used properly by tanking champions over time. In the grand scheme of things, it was a hotfix that needed to happen since it didn’t take long for Summoners to see the huge benefit of equipped it and going all in when it came to team fights.

Courtesy of the Media Relations Department of League of Legends, here is what they officially changed with Gargoyle Stoneplate:

"BUGFIX :: Fixed a bug where the Metallicize active forgot to remove Cinderhulk’s +20% bonus health multiplier when calculating its health increase. Cinderhulk’s multiplier always applies after all other health-modifying effects, meaning Metallicize was benefitting more than it should have.SO MUCH MATH :: For example, at 1000 bonus health, the combination of Cinderhulk + Stoneplate was granting 1640 additional bonus health instead of 1400 with three or more enemies nearby. (These numbers don’t take base health into account since that portion of Stoneplate’s bonus wasn’t bugged.)"

Needless to say, it now scales properly like it should, even when combined with Cinderhulk. It was crazy to see how many tanking champions could literally take on an entire team and not feel any disadvantage when everything procced.

Overall, it’s working just fine after the bugfix and looks to be in a good place now when it comes to what it’s intended to do. Just don’t tell Sion that.
