When it comes to the Clubs feature in League of Legends, it’s in dire need of a major overhaul.

Most gamers that love and play League of Legends have undoubtedly noticed something lacking about the game. Sure, most people tend to get into the game since their friends play but then after that, what happens next tends to be a common theme.

When your personal friends aren’t on, you have to queue up and play with those that can have a negative impact in your matches. The toxicity in League of Legends has been an ongoing issue for years now and although developers have put a plethora of measures in to improve the experiences, they’ve neglected one feature that could potentially fix it once and for all.

The Clubs feature truly leaves much to the imagination. There aren’t any cool features to make it worth even being in a Club in the first place since most Summoners use it to have a funny (or in most cases, offensive) name added to their character.

League of Legends should take a page out of other popular franchises, specifically, MMORPG’s (Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games), and put some kind of guild feature into the game. Friends should be able to have Clubs bring people together and earn some cool achievements, icons, banners, and have a better chat feature.

Since missions have gotten over well with Summoners, developers should also consider having Club-only missions that require many to work towards a common goal or objective. The functionality that’s currently in the Clubs feature is a boring one at best since all one can do is have a big chat window to coordinate playing together.

Features like an in-game event calendar, the ability to change a Club icon or even have champions wear a tabard or war banner to show their allegiance, are just some ideas that would make sense for a game like this. Even having an internal social hub/network to go up against or team up with other Clubs would be huge.

In the grand scheme of things, there’s a huge area of opportunity to make Clubs actually be a fun and bring a new social aspect to the game that’s noticeably missing. Perhaps then the community would head into a friendlier direction with Clubs that actually mean something worth being a part of.
