The new Invasion game mode is now live in League of Legends and first impressions are good with only one real slight issue.

Invasion, the newest game mode that’s currently live in League of Legends, at first is a complete blast. It’s easy to see why it can be a bit confusing at first (especially with what happens at the start of the match but no spoilers here!) but once you get used to it, it’s definitely a fun experience.

When it comes to being successful in this brand new game mode, it’s all about having the right team. Damage is incredibly important as is healing, so when coming up with your respective teams, make sure to have a healer in the group if you want to leave victorious.

For me personally, I originally wanted to only use Jinx, the Loose Cannon, since I’d figure to enjoy unleashing hell one bullet at a time. Right off the bat, someone else picked her so I decided to go as Soraka, the Starchild. I noticed immediately that having a quality healer makes a world of a difference when playing Invasion.

I lost my first few matches but once I was able to and got used to Jinx, it was more fun to dish out damage than doing my best to keep everyone around me alive. After winning back-to-back Invasion matches, it was a fun time and stressed teamwork to truly get the job done.

The new map, graphics, and the fact that you get to play in the Star Guardian skin of the champion selected are all great aspects of this mode. My only complaint and well, slight issue with this new mode, comes down to the second mission selected by developers to go along with it.

The first mission is easy since all you have to do is simply play a game of Invasion either in normal or the insanely hard Onslaught mode and it’ll unlock the rest. Now, this is where it gets particularly annoying in regards to completing the next key mission.

“A Guardian’s Origins” requires you to win a game either as all five of the original Star Guardians or all of the new ones. This can be increasingly difficult if you don’t have a full group of friends willing to play specific champions so everyone can get the mission completed. Otherwise, good luck trying to get random teammates to do it just for the sake of the mission.

Besides that, this is a fun and engaging new mode in League of Legends that brings a fresh aspect to the game. Besides the competitive PvP aspect to the franchise, having a PvE mode, even in a limited time event, helps add to the enriching experience of the game. Overall, give Invasion a try as it’s a blast to play in that will provide endless hours of fun and lots of starlight.
