Breaking down patch 7.18 changes to Cassiopeia
Patch update 7.18 is live as Cassiopeia, the Serpent’s Embrace, got some interesting changes to her kit in League of Legends.
When it comes to Cassiopeia, the Serpent’s Embrace, Summoners tend to love playing as her while opposing champions can let their frustrations get the best of them when trying to be one step ahead of her. In League of Legends, Cassiopeia has always been a popular choice but some felt that at times, one of her main abilities was a bit overpowered.
Patch update 7.18 is live and developers brought some interesting changes to Cassiopeia. It’s not necessarily a nerf or buff but rather, a change in the kind of damage she dishes out with her E – Twin Fang ability.
As per the Media Relations Department of League of Legends, here is the change that’s been added to Cassiopeia:
"E – Twin FangBONUS DAMAGE VS POISONED TARGETS :: 15/40/65/90/115 >>> 10/30/50/70/90BONUS RATIO VS POISONED TARGETS :: 0.4 ability power >>> 0.5 ability power"

In the grand scheme of things, this change will ensure that whenever Cassiopeia engages an enemy champion, it must be a skilled decision otherwise, it won’t be worth attempting.
Before this change, Cassiopeia was able to go in and attempt a kill and thanks to getting health back when using E – Twin Fang against poisoned targets, it would have very well been worth it.
With this change, however, instead of being pure base damage, it’s now a ratio. This will allow it to scale properly when engaging and if the Summoner goes in prematurely, they won’t be able to escape like before with their life.
Cassiopeia was a bit strong in the laning phase of a match as now this will enable her to require even more skill to master her kit. It’ll take some getting used to but at the end of the day, was a smart decision by developers for opposing champions to not feel overwhelmed once she unleashed her abilities when poisoned. Either way, it’s still never recommended to ever look directly into her eyes. Don’t say I didn’t warn you even after these significant patch update changes.
