Breaking down patch 7.18 changes to Ornn
Patch update 7.18 brought a plethora of buffs and changes to Ornn, the Fire Below the Mountain. He should now see more success in the top lane and jungle of League of Legends.
Ever since he made his debut in League of Legends, Ornn, the Fire Below the Mountain, has been underwhelming in the Summoner’s Rift. At first, once anyone knew Ornn was on their team, they would rush to get one of the items that would be upgradeable in the Store and solely focus on that.
Many would simply forget about the fundamentals of a match and go right for an upgraded item which was resulting in a lot of losses and a plethora of frustration. Besides that, Ornn’s kit is decent but didn’t really pack a punch when being used in either the top lane or as a jungler.
Developers have noticed that unlike other new champions that were added to League of Legends, Ornn was by far one of those heavily dropped in popularity and overall effectiveness. The truth of the matter is, a lot of Summoners felt his kit wasn’t good enough and didn’t offer much in a match besides everyone wasting gold to get Ornn’s early upgrades.

Well, for those considering to give him another shot in the Summoner’s Rift, patch update 7.18 brought a whole bunch of changes to Ornn as well as a new item able to be upgraded. That’s right, Zhonya’s Paradox is now a new Forge item for Ornn, much to the delight of Summoners everywhere.
In order to purchase select items Ornn can upgrade, a new level requirement has been added. One must be at least Level 13 before it’s eligible to be upgraded. Making this a requirement now makes it possible to have a bigger impact later on in matches which is what developers originally wanted.
In addition to that, Ornn’s ultimate ability, R – Call of the Forge God and the ram it summons, now will travel to him faster than usual. That’s right, once you cast it, it will now give enemy champions even less time to prepare for their eventual death if used in key situations.

Overall, this should hopefully put Ornn in a better place not only in the hands of Summoners but also to be a decent champion in League of Legends. It remains to be seen if these are the only changes coming to Ornn but for now, Summoners should undoubtedly see he can now keep up even with the better top lane or jungle champions and actually be viable in team fights and engagements.
