Breaking down patch changes to Ardent Censer
Ardent Censer, the popular support item in League of Legends, got some big changes thanks to patch update 7.19.
For all you support mains out there in League of Legends, you’ve undoubtedly noticed the changes to a popular item in your arsenal. That’s right, Ardent Censer has gotten some interesting changes from developers in order to make it a more balanced item.
Developers have noticed that the main ability of Ardent Censer restoring health was a bit overpowering. So they removed that ability and also made the Attack Speed and Attack Damage scale with level. Now, it’s all about the Summoner since it levels up with them and is going back to what it was originally intended for.
Besides those changes, developers also made it so a Summoner gets buffed when a support champion heals or shields an ally. So now, when you use it on your ADC or any teammate really, you’ll undoubtedly be able to dish out some decent damage at a faster rate thanks to the extra abilities focusing on contributing in that aspect as opposed to just playing more defensively.

As per the Media Relations Department of League of Legends, here are all the official changes to hit Ardent Censer as of patch update 7.19:
"SAME :: Healing or shielding an allied champion now also grants you Ardent Censer’s buff, instead of only your allyON-HIT HEAL :: Ardent Censer’s buff no longer restores healthATTACK SPEED :: 25% >>> 20-35% (at levels 1-18)ON-HIT DAMAGE :: 25 >>> 20-35 (at levels 1-18)"
In the grand scheme of things, this makes a ton of sense since now, those that play the support role are able to also do their part in the bottom lane. Especially in team fights since with Ardent Censer equipped, support champions can do some decent damage while also shielding/keeping their teammates alive.
Playing the support role is not easy as the majority of the time, you put your own K/D/A to the side and focus on doing whatever it takes to succeed in a backup role. Yes, you might die a lot in order to save your ADC or teammates but the right support champion that is experienced and geared can make all the difference in leaving a match victorious.

Overall, Ardent Censer is still a great item to have that now will allow support champions to get a nice buff to their damage-causing abilities against enemy champions. Support champions aren’t just around to keep people alive but also do their part in taking down objectives and of course, getting some kills on their own when applicable.
