With the announcement by Riot and Marvel that the two entities would be partnering to create a League of Legends comic, we examine the five top stories we’d like to see expanded in these new comics.

With the earlier announcement that Riot and Marvel were developing a series of League of Legends comics to explore the lore of Runeterra, fans immediately began imagining what stories would be included. The partnership announced the first comic would focus on Ashe – titled Ashe: Warmother – and would be released next May.

Certainly, Ashe is a natural choice to kick off this series. She is one of the original champions in the game on release, is the champion most players will play as in the in-game tutorial mode and is one of the cheapest champs to buy with IP meaning most new players will be able to buy her almost immediately. In short, it’s smart to get people attached to a champion like Ashe so if they are just coming from the comics to the game they will already have familiarity and affinity for the character.

There may very well be the temptation for Riot to put focus into those older, more well-known champions like Annie, Garen, Katarina, Ahri, or Amumu. They could also focus on the big show-cased rivalries like Garen v. Kat, Caitlyn & Vi v. Jinx, or Nasus v. Renekton. However, these comics should be seen as an opportunity to dive far deeper into the existing stories and expand the universe around them, rather than retell the same stories all over again.

With that thought, here are five stories that would make great fodder for the comic series that haven’t been fully fleshed out in the existing lore.
