Cloud9 sits comfortably in the top three of the LCS standings, but a roster change could secure their future as a dominant force in NA League of Legends for the next few seasons.

Two-time North American League of Legends champions and Worlds Semifinalists Cloud9 is without a doubt one of North America’s best teams at the moment. They are currently 2nd in the standings, two wins behind the defending LCS champions Team Liquid and tied with the resurging Counter Logic Gaming. It’s safe to say that Cloud9 looks set to contest for yet another LCS final this summer.

They have proven over the last few weeks that they have perhaps the strongest squad depth in the LCS. C9 has confidently shown the ability of Cloud9 Academy top laner Kumo along with jungler Blaber, who has been in and out of the starting line-up since Week 5 of the 2018 LCS Summer Split.

As controversial as it may seem, there is one remaining change that Cloud9 could make that would kickstart the next few years of the organization and mold a roster that could contest titans Team Liquid.

The State of Cloud9

Cloud9 is not looking like a bad team by any stretch of the imagination. They have secured crucial wins this split, even knocking down the highly feared Team Liquid and long-time rivals Team SoloMid. While they lost to CLG last week, they still look set to secure a play-off bye if they can beat Team Liquid again next week.

Cloud9 has been a successful organization for as long as LCS has existed, and only one player has been with the team through all their trials and tribulations. ADC Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi has been Cloud9’s rock ever since the organization existed.

Sneaky has survived through three generations of Cloud9 rosters. Whether he was sitting alongside Hai and LemonNation, Jensen and Smoothie, or Nisqy and Zeyzal, Sneaky has been the same consistent team fight monster. To some people, taking Sneaky out of the roster that was built around him would seem unthinkable.

However, I think that a certain acquisition that was announced a few weeks ago has altered the dimension of the Cloud9 roster.
