With all the hustle and bustle of preseason and changes to the Rift, it seems like we forgot another thing that happened during Patch 9.23 of League of Legends a new pair of skins were released.

Thresh, the chain warden is ready to get some new duds with a pair of skins in the popular Pulsefire line. The skin is on sale now for 1350 RP and there is also a prestige edition available to those with 100 Prestige Points. Let’s take a look at the new skin and breakdown if it’s worth buying.

The Skin

The color scheme for the first skin is silver, purple and blue and a pair of glowing red eyes. It does look really cool and straight out of a sci-fi movie. Then you take a look at the face. I just had to ask myself what in the world why does it make him look like a bird? Like it’s just so ugly, even with Thresh, not meant to be a beauty queen by design.  Why does he need a techno bird beak?

I’m not too happy that the look of his face takes away from the sharp look of the skin. Hs hook glows a cool blue, the lantern has multiple colored layers that also have the glow effect and look really cool. The r change is crisp in silver and light blue to once again match the Tron-inspired look. This would probably be his best skin in my opinion if it wasn’t for that beak.

The prestige edition changes the skin a good bit. The color scheme is yellow, gold and ever bronze. The lantern doesn’t look much like a lantern though it looks more like an orb with a smaller orb inside of it or even a poke ball on a rope. The skin is an ok option if you have the spare points, but I won’t recommend buying a pass just to get it. Even the Thresh mains aren’t super impressed, with it getting mixed reviews on their Reddit.

Overall, I don’t really like the look of the skin. It just looks too weird with the bird beak and I would probably grade it a C. If you’re looking to fancy up your chain warden l would recommend the last skin made for him high noon for 1350 RP. Championship Thresh would have been another good option at a cheaper price at 975 RP, but it recently went away from the store due to the end of the World Championship.

This skin also fails to impress against other Pulsefire offerings. I would rate this skin as the worst one in the line that includes Ezreal, Caitlyn, Riven, Twisted Fate and Shen. The other offerings in the line look cool and have that edge that is a bit on the intimidating side. With the Thresh I just want to laugh at the bird’s beak.

I can see how this skin announcement got overlooked. With it not looking very good I can’t see a lot of people adding this to their collection. I recommend passing on this one.
