Here are five removed items that should come back to League of Legends.

4. Banner of Command

Stats: 60 armor, 30 magic resistance, 125% base health regeneration

Build path: Aegis of the Legion + Raptor Cloak

Total cost: 2200g

What it did: Greatly increased the power of a lane minion, granting it 40% reduced damage from enemy champions, 100% bonus damage against turrets and bonus stats.

Why it should come back: While many complained that the item was uninteractive and frustrating to play against, since it created a pseudo-super minion that was incredibly difficult to kill, the item added a lot of additional complexity to the game. Savvy players could Banner a cannon minion to create a pushing wave across the map from objectives, effectively creating map pressure without having to send a teammate to threaten a tower, putting the enemy in a position to lose an objective if they didn’t deal with the minion in time.

What would have to change: Once again, the item builds out of another one of the removed items in Raptor’s Cloak, so that component would have to be replaced. I’ll actually suggest making it build out of Chalice of Harmony along with Aegis, becoming the supportive, anti-magic item it was originally intended to be.

As to the active component, aka what made this item both so interesting and frustrating, I have a unique idea. Once again, the Banner-powered minion gains the 40% reduced damage from enemy champions, however it now deals 1000 true damage on its first attack against a turret. Dealing this damage consumes the effect and removes the damage reduction.

For context, 1000 true damage is one-fifth of an outer turret’s health, so it’s not like this damage would cause you to one-shot a tower, but it would do a significant chunk of damage (more than a Demolish proc). However, the enemy team can still kill this minion to prevent that damage if they time it right (it’ll still just be harder), but once the team using Banner gets that benefit they lose all the other advantages. This would give the item more depth and strategy for the user and the opponent.
