Riot underwhelms with new SKT skins
By Andrew Ross
Yesterday was the revealing of the brand new SKT skins from last season’s World Championship, but the response from the community wasn’t good.
Seeing the SK Telecom T1 (SKT) championship skins for the first time was supposed to be a glorious moment, but it turned out to be extremely disappointing.
The team skins earned from last year’s World’s went public yesterday, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly negative.
Jang “MaRin” Gyeoung-Hwan, the Most Valuable Player from the championships, was given Renekton for his skin.
Bae “bengi” Seong-un’s skin was put on Elise.
To no surprise, Ryze is the champion that Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok got a skin for.
Bae “Bang” Jun-sik’s skin was given to Sivir.
Finally, Lee “Wolf” Jae-wan’s skin will be on Alistar.
The response from the community on social media is making it seem as if these skins are complete garbage, but that is definitely an exaggeration. The skins aren’t awful, but they are underwhelming. These skins look exactly like the first set of SKT skins, and that’s the problem. Riot just slapped the SKT colors on the champions and threw on some headsets and called it a day.
SKT’s old skins came out years ago, and they are now the first ever repeat champions in the history of League of Legends. Winning a second time should have made this set of skins more special. At the very least, Riot should have given Faker and Bengi standout skins since they were on both championship teams.
The final source of extreme disappointment from these skins is the fact that Lee “Easyhoon” Ji-hoon did not receive one. He was a big part of that team and was their sixth man. Failing to acknowledge Easyhoon with the championship is very disrespectful to him, and he was probably hurt when he saw that he wasn’t involved with the skins.

Riot KateyKhaos, Quality Assurance on skins for Riot, has been dealing with the negative feedback and responded on Reddit with: “I do appreciate all your feedback around the skins that hit PBE today. I’d be happy to let you know how the team will be reacting as soon as I have an update for you.” She also added a couple of tweets:
She is making it seem as if there’s a chance the skins can be improved a bit, and that would be amazing. Championship team skins are something everyone looks forward to, and it’s a shame the upcoming SKT ones came out underwhelming and disappointing. Give these players the skins they deserve.
