Is Courage of the Colossus getting nerfed in League?
League of Legends is considering nerfing the Courage of the Colossus ability as it’s been overpowered as of late.
Summoners in the Fields of Justice are enjoying everything Courage of the Colossus brings to the table in League of Legends. CotC is an amazing ability that is capable of turning the tides of battle quickly in close matches.
For those that aren’t sure what CotC is, as per League, you gain a shield for 20 – 190 (based on level)(+ 5% maximum health per nearby enemy champion) for 4 seconds after hitting an enemy champion with a stun, taunt, snare, or knock up. Needless to say, it has massive utility in the grand scheme of things.
The only problem is, the ability is rather strong. In their latest developer update, League knows that a nerf would help balance this ability so it stacks up well with other builds. It makes sense for tank champions but for other styles of play, not so much.

It makes sense for League to consider nerfing it since it can cause some issues when you’re on the opposite side of it. It’s overpowered as it procs once you hit any of the aforementioned abilities and adds another layer of survivability to it.
In the end, League knows what is best, especially for the ultra-competitive landscape that continues to grow in the Esports scene. Even the pros know that CotC needs to be balanced for an even playing field.
CotC has made taking down tanks even harder which means changes must happen to prevent them from being unkillable. It is especially dangerous when assassins use it.
With future patches coming soon as the Spring Split is underway, expect to see League do what makes sense with CotC. Hopefully, they’ll nerf it in a way that it’s still beneficial for tanking champions to continue using in their mastery while also enabling it to not be so powerful for other kinds of classes.
