League of Legends continues to evolve as Summoners come up with creative ways towards success. Just like how mages are becoming solid ADC choices in bottom lane and are on the rise.

We live in a crazy world right now. The gorgeous creature who wrote Careless Whisper, Paul George, Princess Leia will forever be remembered, and ADC’s are being pushed out of their spot by mages. Yes, mages! This season was also a pretty erratic time for League of Legends.

Lee Sin was an actual pick for a little bit, and you weren’t just some a Summoner trying to flex his Solo Q muscles, you just wanted to R-Q-Q someone and instantly kill them. Most of the mages got major reworks, Vladimir became an unkillable tank who could heal for 3000 HP with one well placed ultimate. Malzahar could solo Dragon and later in the game, Baron, because of his new pets. And now, Ziggs can’t instantly kill a turret below 25% HP with his Satchel Charge.

Speaking of Ziggs, he is now, according to Champion.gg, the most picked ADC on the current patch. Which is strange, seeing is how he’s an AP Spell caster. And that’s  just it, Ziggs and Malazahar work so well in the bot lane in place of the traditional ADC and tanky or ranged support.

Mainly because unlike the aforementioned bot duo, Ziggs and Malz don’t need lots of gold to scale. They need items, which everyone gets in time due to proper farming and the game just progressing. Combined with the fact that Ziggs’ base abilities do more base damage than anyone else he’s going to face, bottom lane is a place he can excel at.

Then as the game goes on, instead of relying on auto attacks, Ziggs relies on two Q’s and an E to delete two or more squishes on the enemy team.

All in all, I really hope the meta shifts back to the lane dominant, big bully ADC’s like Lucian, Vayne and Jhin, because its always fun to watch those champions just outskill and outplay their opponents.

In the wise words of one of Summoner’s Rift’s most deadly assassin’s, “Change…is good.” Looking at the current state of League, these kind of changes are making matches even more competitively creative.
