SLG expands League of Legends tournament for 2017
Super League Gaming has officially expanded their League of Legends tournament for Spring 2017.
Super League Gaming is one of those amazing companies that bring popular games to the big screen. That’s right, all their Esports tournaments are shown in movie theaters on big screens for everyone in attendance to enjoy. They use special sound systems to amplify key moments in matchups and take place across popular movie theatres across the country.

Following the success of its inaugural League of Legends City Champs season, Super League Gaming today announced the launch of eight additional city teams for the game, and the first-ever city versus city Minecraft City Champs tournament offering. Local gamers can now gather together in movie theatres to compete for their City while playing two of the world’s most popular games.

“The first League of Legends City Champs showed how intense local pride can be in gaming, and we want to bring that intensity to even more players across America,” said Ann Hand, CEO of Super League Gaming. “Adding a Minecraft tournament alongside League of Legends and expanding the number of cities are our next steps to bringing the big screen gaming experience to everyone.”
League of Legends City Champs was the first esports competition featuring regional teams competing against each other, with the Chicago Force taking the championship over the Dallas Dynamite, Los Angeles Shockwaves and Miami Menace. Season two sees City Champs expand from four teams to twelve with the addition of: the Boston Revolt, Denver Drakes, Houston Blast, Las Vegas Wildcards, New York Fury, Phoenix Blaze, San Francisco Radicals and Seattle Surge. Minecraft City Champs adds a new dimension to SLG’s existing Minecraft competition, by rallying players around their hometowns. Designed for players 17 and under who are interested in competing for their city, Minecraft City Champs features teams playing against each other in seven custom Minecraft games that will test players’ strategic and creative skills.
