Kled wrecks Flash Wolves at Day 1 of MSI 2017
Even in a showcase of the best at MSI 2017 in League of Legends, Team WE put on one heck of a show with Kled, the Cantankerous Cavalier!
The best teams from around the globe in League of Legends battled at MSI 2017’s Day 1 of Group Stage. The teams showed up and put it all on the line. G2 Esports put up an amazing comeback against Flash Wolves, Gigabyte Marines upset the crowd when they beat TSM, and SKT1 did what nobody else could and went 2-0. Yet, among all of this, Team WE’s game against Flash Wolves stands out in my mind.
The drama started with an exciting champ select. Most League Championship Series teams stick to a fairly rigid meta. Certain champs are favored for the way League of Legends is currently balanced and played. Right off the bat, Team WE blind picked Kled for their top lane. They followed that up with Taliyah for the mid lane and Bard for support. These are picks that are wildly off meta for someone who watches EULCS or NALCS. I was already on the edge of my seat.
Following the controlled pace between SKT1 and G2, this game kept the audience on their toes. G2 v SKT1 ended with a total of 16 kills between the two teams, while Team WE racked up 16 kills just for their team this game!

Team WE started with a first blood on Rumble top lane. Kled ulted in, Elise cocooned, and that was all she wrote. This gave Kled the lane pressure he needed to establish dominance in the top of the map.
Even with top lane pushed in, Flash Wolves’ MMD (playing Rumble) didn’t respect the gank potential and only a few minutes later got killed again with the same formula.
This created a pick for WE’s midlaner and gave them their third kill. Shortly after that, Team WE took the first tower in the top lane. This was all before 10 minutes!
Kled continued to dominate the top lane and it seemed as if Flash Wolves had no answer to Team WE’s 957 on Kled. Finally, it looked like Flash Wolves had their chance to finally shut down the 6-0 Kled. A three man gank by Rumble, Ryze, and Malzahar surprised 957 in the bot lane. Amazingly, with the help of the Guardian Angel and Skarl, Kled survives by the skin of his teeth, and his team secures Baron while Flash Wolves were still busy with Kled!
Even the broadcasters were losing their minds!
With an 8,000 gold deficit and a Baron power play against them, Flash Wolves couldn’t seem to muster a fight. The game ended shortly after this epic outplay, at a total time of fewer than 30 minutes. 957’s Kled dominated with a 7-0-4 record.

The rest of the day was full of great matches, but none with the crazy, unexpected plays like this one. This is the kind of excitement we crave to see at an all-star event like MSI 2017!
