A new elemental dragon could very well be in the works for League of Legends in the future. Here’s a breakdown at what would make the most sense in the grand scheme of things.

For all you junglers out there, getting that elemental dragon buff truly adds an incredible dimension in League of Legends. Depending on which buffs you’re able to add, it is a real game-changer in matches, especially longer than usual ones when your team needs just a slight advantage to leave victorious.

At this point in time, killing an elemental dragon can either add to your team’s movement speed, increase overall damage, regenerate health/mana, or get a super buff that increases the strength of all current buffs on teammates. But what if League of Legends adds another elemental dragon buff to really push the envelope?

It would a wise decision to add just one more elemental dragon buff since there is one element that would make complete sense. Perhaps the next dragon will give some sort of buff for vision, maybe increasing the area of a ward or even extending the period of time they’re up for when killed.

In an article written by James “Obscurica” Chen of PvPLive.net, here is what one of the developers had to say about adding a new dragon into League of Legends:

"At some point (next year seems most likely) we’d like to try adding another elemental dragon to the rotation if we can find one that’s distinct from the other in terms of the gameplay it rewards, has at least an ok thematic fit, and doesn’t excessively favor particular team comps. Curious to hear if anyone’s got any strong suggestions? We’ve got some ideas kicking around of course, but also really interested in hearing other viewpoints."

Chen made a great point in his article that perhaps this new dragon buff could add a vampiric element in that it takes away an enemy team’s bonus stats over time. Whether it’s that or something to add to increased vision over a map or on existing wards, it will be very interesting to see what the final decision will be on new dragon buff.

Either way, don’t expect to see a new dragon enter the Summoner’s Rift anytime soon. With the MSI 2017 currently underway, it more than likely won’t come to fruition until early next year.
