Olaf is top free champion to play in May Week 3
Heading into the weekend, Olaf is easily the top free champion to play with during the free champion rotation of May Week 3.
When it comes to Vikings and their overall lore, it’s hard not to fall in love with them. Especially those kinds of Vikings that dual-wield axes looking for blood in League of Legends. Such is the case with Olaf, the Berserker, heading into this weekend as the top free champion to play with.
Mainly used as a top and jungle champion, Olaf is a total blast to play with. Besides his ability to plow through minions once he pops his W- Vicious Strikes, he makes quick work of anyone standing in his way.
Olaf excels as a top lane champion as his win rate is 50.19 percent. He’s able to dish out some serious damage but build himself up as a tanky champion. For those interested in using him in this role, make sure to stack up on Greater Seal of Scaling Health and purchase tanking items. Start out with Trinity Force and focus on Spirit Visage, Righteous Glory, and eventually Guardian Angel.

If you main the jungle role, Olaf does well in clearing the jungle quickly and efficiently. His E – Reckless Swing helps heal him when used as a finishing move which goes perfectly with Smite. In this role, make sure to stack up on Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage and build up to an Adaptive Helm. Olaf will be hard to take down and does speedy damage to finish off enemy champions once Summoners start ganking with him.
Olaf does well early on in games no matter which role you prefer. Again, the emphasis is on his speed and ability to heal up based on the damage he puts out. His ultimate, R – Ragnarok, is a game-changer when it comes to engaging in team fights. Once you pop it, he becomes completely immune to all disables and can go right to kill healing/support champions and take them out rather quickly.
Overall, if you’ve never played as Olaf, give him a shot this weekend as he’s a lot of fun to play with and might be a champion worth adding to your collection in the future.
