The overall community of League of Legends is in dire need of purifying as the upcoming honor changes will enhance the overall experience of the game to weed out the majority of toxic players.

For those that have been playing League of Legends for quite some time, it truly is an amazing experience. From awesome champions, competitive gameplay, and lots of great updates to make the game a fun experience, playing with friends can create memories that last a lifetime. But what happens when you get teamed up with toxic players?

Not only do they ruin the experience, but it also ruins the game for potential new Summoners that are just getting started. Toxic players are ruthless against new gamers that get thrown obscenities just because they died early on or forget their items at the start of a match.

With the new honor changes coming to League of Legends soon, developers are wisely making the right changes to purify the community. Some of the great changes will be making key fragments drop more frequently for Summoners that are friendly, do their role, and help foster a positive experience in matches.

In an article written by James “Obscurica” Chen for PvPLive.net, here are the changes so far confirmed in the upcoming honor update by developer DuckCurry:

  • Key fragments now drop through Honor.
    • Everyone who’s level 2 (starting level) or above gets all their free key fragments by just playing games without getting hit with penalties
    • Earning Honor votes is not required to get your keys
    • Winning is no longer required to earn keys.
    • Keys no longer drop at end-of-game, but periodically while outside of queue.
  • Honor level 3+ players earn loading screen flair by receiving honors.
    • This flair lasts for one game.
    • You get flair in your next game if two premade teammates or one non-premade teammate honors you
    • There’s no cooldown on flair, so you earn it every game you meet the honor conditions above
    • Your flair unlocks at level 3, grows at level 4, and fully blooms at level 5.
  • There will be more rewards coming to live. We’ll be sharing more rewards details as we approach launch

These are great changes that will not only purify the community in League of Legends, but will make sure that players stop trolling, name calling, and above all else, do their best to leave a match victorious. That is what the essence of the game is about and well, getting rewarded when you did your best and having good sportsmanship in a win or loss.

Toxic players will eventually get weeded out since their Honor Level will be so low, no rewards will come their way, not to mention, they will have it displayed right on their profile. Slowly but surely, this will make the community friendlier and hopefully, be more welcoming to new Summoners that want to enjoy everything League of Legends brings to the table. Plus to long-term players that want teammates that are helpful, not harmful when queuing up.
