Breaking down upcoming Cho’Gath changes
Developers of League of Legends have confirmed that changes are on the horizon for Cho’Gath, the Terror of the Void.
Everyone’s favorite Terror of the Void will be getting yet another update to his overall kit. At this point in time, he’s somewhat viable in the top lane, mid lane, or even as a jungler in League of Legends. The only problem is, he’s unable to have consistent results due to how dependent he is on getting enemy kills.
Cho’Gath needs to be fed in order for his kit to truly shine but when he’s not getting enough kills to increase his Feast stacks, he ends up being a weak champion in the grand scheme of things. Enemy champions tend to have an advantage since again, his kit doesn’t compare to other champions who aren’t so reliant on that deciding factor to enjoy a permanent buff.
The good news is, developers of League of Legends have confirmed that changes are coming to make Cho’Gath be more of a tank that can dish out damage without such a depending factor. In an article written by James Bates for WWG, he confirmed this below via developer Meddler:

"“What we’re currently testing there is changing E to an active rather than a toggle,” Meddler said, “and it empowers Cho’s next three auto attacks with the AOE spikes that deal % max enemy hp as magic damage and apply a decaying slow. CD’s really short when leveled. Goals there include giving Cho a more juggernaut like damage profile (able to hurt beefier front lines better if they’re all he can reach), putting a bit more interaction into use of the E and adding a bit of power.”"
Needless to say, this would be a huge change that could very well solidify Cho’Gath as a top lane champion. Perhaps with this change, he would be a tankier option that can match up with any current META champions.
Such a huge boost to his main ability would be a difference maker that could not only make his popularity rise but his ability to do his part and be a contributing factor. It remains to be seen what other changes might be coming his way but since developers confirmed his E – Vorpal Spikes is going to provide more damage, it should bring a dramatic change to his overall effectiveness.
