It looks like developers are making an update to how much gold a Rift Herald kill brings to a team in League of Legends.

Lately, not many teams have been enticed to go for a Rift Herald kill in League of Legends when it spawns early on in a match. While the Rift Herald is an incredible way to truly push a lane and easily take down towers, not many Summoners see the benefit of risking deaths if it’s not executed on properly.

When one thinks about it, a Rift Herald kill only gives 25g when killed which again, isn’t worth the risk of having multiple teammates die if the enemy wants to head right into a team fight and steal it. The good news is, developers of League of Legends are making a nice change to make it more appealing for Summoners to want to take it down due to an update coming to increase the gold earned upon killing the Rift Herald.

In an article written by James “Obscurica” Chen for PvPLive.net, he confirmed that a gold increase is coming. Take a look below via developers:

"We’ll be making a slight buff most likely in the next patch however, increasing the gold reward for the kill from 25g to 100g."

100g is perfect to not only add more to the pockets of a team but make the Rift Herald an important reason to fight over in the early stages of a match.

Besides going after dragons, junglers should now be more enticed to kill the Rift Herald and work with their teammates to strategize as to when to go in for the kill and of course, to use it in a lane.

Whether you want to further push a lane, split push, or drop it in a lane that needs help, the Rift Herald is pretty much a guaranteed tower kill. In addition to that, the extra gold now makes it totally worth going after since the majority of the time, no one even bothers to consider it. Expect to see this update either in the upcoming patch update or the one following it.
