New champion Kayn is overpowered with kit
In the Public Beta Environment in League of Legends, Kayn, the Shadow Reaper, is tearing it up to the point where he’s overpowered, to say the least.
Whenever a new champion is revealed in League of Legends, developers extensively test everything out to ensure it delivers what was originally envisioned. Kayn, the Shadow Reaper, was recently revealed last week and right off the bat, is questioning many as to how his current kit is considered fair in the grand scheme of things.
Kayn’s kit basically makes him a dominant jungler or even a top lane champion than can seamlessly go through walls and surprise enemies in a blink of an eye. Depending on the enemies Kayn is facing, he can transform mid-match to give him a major advantage against the opposing style of the champion, whether it’s melee or ranged. He can transform into an Assassin-like champion that dishes out bonus magic damage within the first few seconds of combat or change into one that heals himself for all spell damage done.
Mind you, that’s just his passive Darkin Scythe. His other abilities go well in the jungle (Kayn’s Q – Reaping Slash does bonus damage to monsters) and he even has a slowing ability via his W – Blade’s Reach. The most controversial ability is his E – Shadow Step. Take a look at the YouTube video below to see this ability in all its glory:

Needless to say, E – Shadow Step not only lets Kayn go through walls in League of Legends but it also gives him a burst of movement speed and heals him. This is all just a bit too much and this is all not even considering how epic his ultimate R – Umbral Trespass can be.
Kayn’s ultimate makes him untargetable for a few seconds once he hits it and depending on his transformation, will either do a huge amount of bonus magic damage from far away or do the same thing from a closer range just with healing added in once it’s unleashed.
He needs to undoubtedly get nerfed at some point because if this powerhouse of a champion is officially added to League of Legends as is, it’s going to cause some major problems. Developers will hopefully see that some changes need to happen to make things a bit fairer when going up against him.
Kayn’s kit is simply too much to handle as he can go from kill to kill in the Summoner’s Rift, heal himself up with two of his abilities, and also have a completely different skill-set during a match. Hopefully, developers listen to the community and understand that Kayn can’t possibly be this powerful once all is said and done.
