Rewards for old Honor system officially announced
For Summoners in League of Legends that earned a plethora of honor from the old system before it was reworked, exclusive icons are coming your way in late September.
The new Honor system has been out for a bit now and so far, has gotten pretty solid reviews. One can immediately tell it’s made an impact in the community which encourages positive gameplay and teamwork. Yeah, it’s not perfect yet but is a step in the right direction since now, Honor is tied into Loot which makes it a priority to be a quality teammate and not one that rages just because someone on their team died.
Back when the big Honor update dropped, it introduced a great new system that rewards those that follow the rules and do their very best to leave a match victorious. The only issue Summoners had was what exactly would happen to all the honor they already earned before the big update?
Developers promised that they’d work on a way to reward those that did the right thing for years and had to essentially start over at Honor Level 2. They have officially confirmed that exclusive Summoner icons will be rewarded to all those quality players in late September.

That’s right Summoners, if you fall into certain categories, you will earn one or even several of these new exclusive Honor icons on Sat., Sept. 30, 2017. It all comes down to the kind of honor you used to get before the big Honor update that will determine what’s added to your collection.
They’ll be five icons eligible to be earned, as per Riot Nakyle direct from the League of Legends site, here they are:
"Honorable OpponentGreat LeaderGreat TeammateGreat Mentor"
If you earned 10 or more honors from the old system, there is also a fantastic icon featuring all four categories in one that proves you went above and beyond when it came to everything League of Legends should be about. As per Nakyle, as long as you played a single matchmaking game within the last year and got honor from the old categories, you’ll get the special icons you’ve qualified for based on all that old honor you used to rack up.
Overall, the icons look great and again, is a fantastic way to reward those that put in so much time before the new Honor system was implemented. All that previous honor won’t go to waste as once 9/30/17 is here, Summoners will have something to remember it for the life of their account.
