A new level requirement is currently being tested on Ornn, the Fire Below the Mountain, when it comes to his item upgrades.

For those of you that have played as or alongside Ornn, the Fire Below the Mountain, you’ve undoubtedly seen everyone spend all their hard-earned gold on his item upgrades early on in matches. League of Legends is all about farming, execution, focusing on objectives, and working together as a team. Not wasting so much gold right from the start to then throw off an entire match just for an upgraded item.

Ornn’s Passive – Living Forge, allows him to use the Shop from anywhere on the map and also gives the option to purchase upgraded items for him and his teammates. Luckily, developers noticed that teammates were using this way too early than intended and put in a level requirement to test in the Public Beta Environment to ensure it’s only used for such purposes.

In an article written by Tanner Dedmon of ComicBook.com, he confirmed that developers put in a new level requirement of 13 before Ornn or his teammates can start to purchase upgrades for certain items. Considering that Ornn has been an underwhelming champion since his debut, this is a good change to balance things out when it comes to this part of his kit.

In the grand scheme of things, this is going to stop everyone wanting to rush upgrades just because he’s on the team. It’s been annoying, to say the least, especially from my own personal experiences playing as him when that’s all everyone believes he’s good for.

While he’s not all that fun to play with at this point in time, the potential is there to at least be somewhat of a decent top lane champion. I’m not a fan of his style of play but can see others enjoying it, perhaps in a support role.

Overall, keep an eye on future patch updates to see if and when such changes to Ornn’s passive hits League of Legends. Hopefully, this will help make his upgraded items more viable when it matters most in the latter part of matches.
