Heading into the second week in September, Vel’Koz, the Eye of the Void, is the top champion to play in League of Legends.

Don’t you just love playing champions from the Void? They’re some of the evilest champions in League of Legends and well, are always fun to play as in the Summoner’s Rift. Heading into the second week of September, Vel’Koz, the Eye of the Void, is the top champion Summoners should check out in the free champion rotation.

Vel’Koz makes for a viable mid lane or support champion thanks to everything he brings to the table. Once leveled up and properly geared, Vel’Koz can be quite the difference maker later on in matches.

His abilities stack up well when you’re able to get consecutive ability attacks on the same enemy champion as he can do additional true damage thanks to his Passive – Organic Deconstruction. As a mid lane champion, Vel’Koz can keep up with anyone thanks to this as he can surprise enemy champions with how quickly he can diminish your health.

Vel’Koz’s W – Void Rift is great for farming minions and poking enemy champions to keep them guessing as to what is coming next. He also has two great abilities that can slow enemies or even knock them up in the air with Q – Plasma Fission and E – Tectonic Disruption, respectively.

When it comes to his ultimate, R – Life Form Disintegration Ray, it’s perfect for finishing off an enemy champion or help stack up kills in a team fight where enemy champions are low on health and fleeing for their lives. Use it in those key situations and you will enjoy a nice K/D/A ratio.

More from Champion Rotation

For runes, make sure to use the following as per Champion.GG: Greater Mark of Magic Penetration (9), Greater Glyph of Magic Resist (9), Greater Seal of Armor (9), and Greater Quintessence of Ability Power (3).

The right items are key when it comes to Vel’Koz so make sure to use ones that emphasize Ability Power and Magic Penetration. If you want the best results, build items in this order: Morellonomicon, Sorcerer’s Shoes, Luden’s Echo, Liandry’s Torment, Void Staff, Rylai’s Crystal Scepter.

Overall, if you’ve never played as Vel’Koz, give him a shot this week as he’s a lot of fun to play as once you get his kit down to execute properly. Whatever you do though, don’t look directly into his eye.
