Amumu, the Sad Mummy, is free to play in the final week of September. The popular champion who specializes in the jungle role is part of this week’s free champion rotation in League of Legends. If you’ve never played as him, he’s absolutely worth giving a try, especially if you’ve never jungled before and are interested in giving it a shot.
When it comes to the jungle role, it’s all about clearing monsters efficiently and knowing when to find the right opportunities to gank. Ganking can help take down a tower quickly or have enemy champions blow their abilities or spells which can help push a lane. Keep in mind you’re also responsible to let teammates know when it’s best to go for the Rift Herald, Dragons, and eventually the Baron.
Amumu excels in the jungle role since he’s a tanky champion and has a kit that’s effective in team fights. He can stun and drop his ultimate R – Curse of the Sad Mummy that damages and makes enemy champions unable to attack or move. Needless to say, when timed perfectly with your teammates, it’s undoubtedly a difference maker.
If you’ve never used Amumu before, focus on items that emphasize Health, Armor, and Cooldown Reduction. Ideally, focus on this item build order for the best results: Enchantment: Runic Echoes, Boots of Mobility, Liandry’s Torment, Rylai’s Crystal Scepter, Frozen Heart, and Zhonya’s Hourglass.

If you get an opportunity to suggest which champions to ban, make sure to let your teammates know that Amumu doesn’t do well against Twitch, Cho’Gath, and Pantheon. They counter him pretty hard which will only add more tears to his cries.

Overall, Amumu is a lot of fun to play as with a relatively easy kit to master. Who knows, maybe if more Summoners try him out since he’s free to play this week, it might make him cry just a bit lesser when he steps foot in the Summoner’s Rift.
