League of Legends news: Inero to Leave Echo Fox

facebooktwitterreddit

It’s a week of change for Echo Fox. Players, staff, and owners come and go, and amidst a seemingly successful season, Inero has announced that he will be stepping down as Head Coach of Echo Fox.

Inero has been with Echo Fox since the summer split of 2017, meaning he’s been around before the Huni days, and the complete overhaul of players, came to be. It’s an amazing feat, really, that he’s been able to make such a transition so successfully.

"“I put in my two week’s notice with Echo Fox this week and won’t be on stage with the team this weekend, I’m really thankful for the times I’ve had with the players and staff that I’ve been able to work alongside for this past year.” -Inero"

It’s not totally clear whether or not something in particular sparked Inero’s need to leave the team, but its obvious that its coming straight from his own desires. Simply put, no one is trying to oust him out of the team.

It would be a strange tactic, indeed, for the higher ups to see the need to make a change to managerial staff when the team is performing so well. But speaking of changes,

The new manager Thomas “Thinkcard” Slotkin

is said to be in the transitional phases to taking Inero’s place as head manager. Thomas has been working close with Echo Fox as the strategic manager, so the transition won’t be as rough / drastic as a normal replacement process might be.

The team is already used to their new manager being in the scene, and can count themselves lucky that Echo Fox is handling the changes so maturely and in a manner that doesn’t bring extra stress to themselves in a world where NA LCS teams seem to be making rash and heated decisions that disrupt the internal cogs of their teams.

Inero has stated that he won’t be looking for another managerial position until after this split has ended out of respect for Echo Fox, but the future beyond that is unclear.

And as for Thomas, he has some big shoes to fill, and any poor performances by the team will cause blame to come right to his footsteps, so he’d better be on guard as you only get one first impression.

Until that impression comes,
