League of Legends – Patch 8.24(b) tier list compilation
By Josh Tyler
Riot may call it a “hotfix,” but Patch 8.24(b) brings changes sure to shake up the meta. As a result, we review what data and experts have to say about the strongest picks in our Patch 8.24(b) tier list.
After almost four full days of play, Patch 8.24(b) has shaken up the soloQ landscape considerably. Both directly, and indirectly, some of the changes have caused big shifts in the tier lists among experts.
When taking a look at our Patch 8.24(b) tier list, we will look not only at who the power picks are, but what champions have risen or fallen in the rankings. For a full breakdown of the methodology used to design these rankings, see our inaugural article here and the data used to form these rankings here.

Most buffed champion: Vladimir. Honorable mentions, Illaoi, Cassiopeia.
Most nerfed champion: Viktor. Honorable mentions, Karthus, Irelia, Shen.
The top tier of the list (S and high A) stays relatively static, but there is a lot of movement around the low A tier/high B tier area. Three champions moved up into the A tier (Lissandra, Jayce, and Illaoi) and four former A tier picks dropped to the B tier (Garen, Yasuo, Rengar, and Viktor).
No direct buffs or nerfs account for these changes, although Illaoi did get buffs in Patch 8.24 as did Lissandra through her passive rework, which would explain why those champions rose in prominence. On the other hand, the nerfs designed to attack top lane Viktor seem to have worked very well, as Viktor nearly dropped two full tiers due to the nerfs to his Q.
As far as what types of classes are strong, the fighter/diver archetypes that were strong in the last patch still seem to be the top picks. While we see a lot of mages moving up the ranks (Lissandra, Vlad, Cassiopeia) that is likely because some of the other top tier mages fell down the ranks (Viktor and Karthus), opening room for new champions at the top of the mage food chain.
