The opening day of the LEC was one packed full to the brim with surprises. Who will take victory on day 2?

The El Clásico ended in an SK Gaming victory which I think is safe to say that nigh on nobody saw coming. G2 came out swinging with their absolutely disgusting poke and pop comp, that demolished my beloved Origen. Today we’ll be seeing if I can get more than 1 out of 5 matches right!

Game 1 – G2 Esports vs FC Schalke 04

Kicking off today’s proceedings is a rematch from 2018’s Summer Finals. Both rosters have been tinkered with since they last met, with G2 moving Luka “Perkz” Perković into the bottom lane and former Fnatic mid-laner Rasmus “Caps”  Winther keeping the throne warm in his lane kingdom.

Schalke’s roster saw a larger overhaul with the only remaining piece being franchise player Elias “Upset” Lipp in the AD Carry position. Pairing him up with aggressive playmaking support in Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun was a stroke of genius.

More from League of Legends

I do think after seeing G2’s shaky early-game yesterday and seeing how sturdy Schalke looked I’m going to call this an #S04Win.

Game 2 – Excel Esports vs Rogue

I admit it, yesterday I let my blind patriotism take over and gave the win to Excel purely out of that. Caedrel let me down on that front but the rest of the team were quite impressive in their own regard, making for quite a close game between Splyce and themselves. I must admit I really find myself rooting for the KaSing/Jeskla pairing and fully expect them to roll over Rogue’s HeaQ and Wadid.

Despite Rogue finding themselves getting absolutely decimated by the resurgent Misfits roster I think this game is going to be close, Profit will keep Expect on his toes and the mid/jungle duos for both teams will be fairly evenly matched; even though I do give an edge to Kikis & Sencux over Caedrel & Exile.

My heart says Excel wins but my brain says Rogue wins… We’re going to call this a #RGEWin.

Game 3 – Splyce vs Team Vitality

Vitality found themselves with some teething problems yesterday (those baron calls were pretty ghastly), and I expect them to come back with a fire in their eyes and to really bring the heat in this match.

Splyce pulled out an absolute blinder versus Excel and Humanoid’s Aatrox was absolutely disgusting! Kobbe once again was a rock in bottom lane and as long as Norskeren remembers to buy items this time; I won’t automatically hand the victory over Vitality.

As long as Attila gets given an actual AD Carry and Mowgli doesn’t make any more god-awful baron calls this will be an easy #VITWin.

Game 4 – SK Gaming vs Misfits Gaming

Two winners from yesterday, one fully expected to destroy their opponent and the other a David who took down their respective Goliath. This game is going to be exciting!

SK Gaming is coming into this match still flying high from their victory over Fnatic yesterday, and Misfits are coming in fully expecting to destroy SK Gaming just as easily as they tore Rogue apart yesterday. I’m now a firm believer in SK Dreams and Selfmade.

Spicy prediction? It’s an #SKWin from me!

Game 5 – Origen vs Fnatic

I really hope this game ends in a backdoor. We find the two fan-favorite franchises clashing in tonight’s final game!

Bwipo and Alphari; two of the smartest top laners in the whole of the LEC taking each other on, and the winner of this game will surely be put to the top of peoples’ tier lists.

Broxah definitely outclasses our boy Kold but Nukeduck will be putting Nemesis firmly in his place in the mid lane. Bot lane we’ll find the mechanical monster and the mad genius Patrik & Mithy try to dethrone Rekkles & his right hand Hylissang for dominance!

This is truly a match for the ages and certainly worthy to end tonight’s proceedings; #OGWin…
