We are looking at week 4 of LCK and so far many teams have shown struggles against the new squads of the League. How will this week’s games turn out? Here are my thoughts.

First up on Wednesday, February 14th the LCK starts off with Hanwha Life Esports facing former world champions Gen G. So far both teams have not looked too great, though, HLE has been performing slightly better as we speak. I wouldn’t call them a “favorite” coming into this match at all though, they just seem to make fewer mistakes. Gen G. need to enable Peanut’s ability to carry matches utilizing pocket picks like his Lee Sin or even Elise in order to take this series home. I believe neither team will have great advantages in this series and we will see a close 3-game series with – hopefully – lots of fighting.

Afterwards SK Telecom T1 battle against King-Zone DragonX to secure an early top 3 spot in the LCK. The “dream team” as they were called by coach staff and fans have not been as incredible as some rumors promised them to be, though, they certainly look better than Kingzone despite the even overall score.

More from League of Legends

SKT has more individual talent which should show especially in the top lane where veteran Khan faces off against Rascal, an inexperienced player comparatively. Though, Khan has let down his fans in the past multiple times not paying enough respect to his opponents so we cannot be completely sure how this lane will play out. On paper, SKT should take this win home through solo picks and their famous ability to turn around team fights even while having deficits.

Next, we have Hanwha Life Esports playing against King-Zone DragonX for an early top spot in the LCK on the 15th of February. Both teams have been showing strengths and weaknesses, neither standing out. Much will depend on the mid-jungle synergy and how KZ’s star ADC Deft can play to his strengths.

Hanwha needs to go at least even in the bottom lane without investing their jungler too much in the process so they can enable Thal to get ahead and create a winning condition. I believe bot lane is a very impactful role right now and Deft is one of the best in the LCK – if not the world – so my money is on his squad.

Last but not least is SKT versus Gen G. on Saturday, February 16th. Not only are these two teams stacked with talent and big names all over the place, but it is also Peanut’s first match against his former teammate, Faker. So, how are his chances of beating the Demon King? Not too good, honestly.

Despite some weak games of kK0ma’s team, the dream team definitely looks good – to say the least. Gen G.’s squad is –  even for LCK standards – not performing badly by any means, though, neither synergy nor individual talent seems to be superior here for them. Winning this game would require SKT to make fatal mistakes – which could likely happen if they do not pay attention and disrespect their enemies – or multiple Gen G. members step up immensely.
