LCK support tier list – who are the best supports of the 2019 Spring Split?
By Josh Tyler
With the LCK resuming today, we turn our attention back to which players are likely to hoist their teams to glory or drag them down to failure. Today, we look at the LCK support tier list and discuss who is the best, and worst, support in the LCK so far this split.
Previously, we’ve done power rankings of different LCK players to see which was the best and which was the worst. Today, however, we’re introducing something a bit different, with our first LCK support tier list. Similar to our patch tier lists for soloQ, we have given each player at each position a certain score based off their statistical contributions in three key areas: kills, gold, and vision/damage.
A full breakdown of the methodology behind the LCK support tier list can be found here, but basically, we tried to normalize each player’s stats relative to their position and give them a score for their efforts. A full listing of the tier list can be found here, but let’s get right into our LCK support tier list

D tier
13. Park “Nova” Chan-ho (Jin Air Greenwings)
Despite only playing in three games this season, Nova made a name for himself by dying 16 times in the three games he’s played. In comparison, SKT’s Mata only died 23 times in 14 games played, and Griffin’s Lehends has played more games than Nova (13) and died fewer times (15). Not the best showing for a team that’s starting support has had his own issues.
C tier
12. Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu (Jin Air Greenwings)
Speaking off Jin Air’s starting support, Kellin hasn’t been doing that well himself. Of players who have played at least 10 games so far this split, Kellin has the lowest KDA at 1.1 (a full point behind the next-worst support) and not even half of the second-fewest assists among supports (he has 34, where the next player has almost 80). That Jin Air’s ADC, Route, is still ranked in the middle of the pack while playing next to these two is a testament to his talent.
11. Lee “Spirit” Da-yoon (Afreeca Freecs)
You read that correct, Spirit, the jungler for Afreeca has played four games as support for the team. Three of those games were him on AP Jarvan support, yes, which might excuse him having 20 deaths over those four games, but still, his stats are fairly putrid among supports. Maybe keep him in the jungle.
10. Son “Jelly” Ho-gyeong (Afreeca Freecs)
The rookie has only played in two games this split, so it’s hard to lay a ton of blame at his feet for his poor stats. Unfortunately, having 0.8 KDA and 51 damage per minute – both the lowest of all LCK supports – won’t help you crack the lineup.
9. Lee “Proud” Jeong-jae (Afreeca Freecs)
Starting to get a sense that Afreeca might have an issue with supports? Proud is, ostensibly, Afreeca’s starting support as he’s played the most games at the position for the team. He’s also got a decent KDA (4.2) and kill participation (80.6%). So why is he so low on the LCK support tier list?
Unfortunately, Proud is easily the worst LCK supports when it comes to gold earnings. He has the lowest GPM, gold share, and worst gold differential at 15 of any support in the league.
