With most of the major regions having reached the half-way point of their Spring Split, a fair few underdog teams have emerged across the major regions. Here are some of our favorites that we recommend LoL lovers keep their eyes on, as they may just pull off some fantastic upsets this year!

LCS (North America):

FlyQuest

Consistently middle-to-top of the pack in the LCS is FlyQuest. With big names like Eugene “Pobelter” Park and Jason “WildTurtle” Tran; FlyQuest is a multi-dimensional team with carry potential in all top, mid and bot lanes. FlyQuest has been pretty random with their wins and losses so far in the LCS, making their games unpredictable fiestas. They’re quite diverse in the way they win their games as well. They can play standard compositions or whip out their favourite pocket picks as well (Omran “V1per” Shoura and his signature Riven) and still look impressive in their comeback wins. FlyQuest’s multi-carry playstyle is therefore definitely one to look out for when watching the LCS.

LEC (Europe):

SK Gaming

Like FlyQuest over in the LCS, SK Gaming is also a middle-of-the-pack team in the LEC. Led by ex-SKT mid-laner Choi “Pirean” Jun-sik, the team has had their ups and downs throughout the first half of the LEC split, inconsistent to the types of teams that they beat.

While they lost to Origen, a newer addition to the LEC, they won against Team Vitality who made their mark at Worlds 2018, beating powerhouse teams RNG and Gen.G. With their unpredictable wins and losses, SK Gaming is definitely a team to watch as who knows, they may even upset top teams like G2. Origen did it so why not SK Gaming?
