League of Legends LEC MVP power rankings: Week 6
By Josh Tyler
As the LEC regular season winds down one of the biggest debates on the horizon is who will be the Spring Split MVP. Which European League of Legends players has stood out above the rest.
Who’s the best? That’s the question most LEC fans are asking, debating which of their League of Legends players has performed the best.
There are many criteria that can be used to define what an MVP player is. Some will say it’s purely the best player in the LEC, some will say it’s the player who is most critical to his team’s success, and finally, others will insist that it’s the player who is best relative to the rest of his contemporaries.
For our list, we’ll consider all of these definitions. I’ll provide the player who qualifies under each of these definitions.
1. Rasmus “Caps” Winther (G2)
What hasn’t Caps been able to do this season for G2? The big get in the offseason, the one known as “Baby Faker” has lived up to the hype and brought G2 back to heights not seen since in years. They’re not just the best team in Europe, they’re one of the best teams in the world.

Statistically, Caps leads the LEC in kills, gold per minute, damage per minute, vision score per minute, gold difference at 15, and KDA. He’s got a champion pool as deep as the ocean and he drives G2’s early game.
Last year, Caps was the best player in Europe and helped lead Fnatic to an appearance at the World Championship, dueling admirably against Rookie. No player in the LEC can match Caps in the mid lane, which is why he should be considered for the MVP of the split.
2. Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski (G2)
Incredibly, the only player with a bigger difference between himself and the second-ranked player at that position than Caps in the mid lane is Jankos in the jungle. If Caps is the engine that drives G2’s early game, Jankos is the starter who gets that early game going.
His 8.2 KDA is twice that of every jungler in the LEC other than Xerxe. He leads the LEC in kills and deaths, along with gold per minute and damage per minute. Although the jungle pool in the LEC may not be that deep, Jankos is far and away at the top of the pack.
3. Lucas “Cabochard ” Simon-Meslet (Vitality)
Cabo is definitely the best top laner in the LEC. He leads all tops in kills, kill participation, death share, and gold share. He’s also second in the LEC in statistics such as damage and gold per minute.
But it’s not just that Cabochard leads all top laners statistically, but how important he is to Vitality’s success as a team. Yes, he does have good teammates like Jiizuke and Mowgli, and a decent pair in the bot lane in Attila and Jactroll (though they’re both in the lower half of LEC bot lanes), but Vitality is the second-best team in the LEC.
G2 is the best team in Europe, hands down, but it’s really hard to pin down exactly how valuable any one of their members are. In addition to Caps and Jankos, both Mikyx and Perkz are the top-ranked players in the LEC in their position, and their top laner Wunder is still our second-ranked top laner.
Simply put, G2 is stacked and while the difference between them and all the other LEC top laners is massive, the difference between their teammates is not. To say that any one of the players on G2 is indispensable is ridiculous because take one away and they would still have a team of four MVP candidates.
Cabochard, on the other hand, is the best player on his team by a mile. Mowgli and Jiizuke, as good as they are, don’t carry the load for their team the same way Mikyx, Wunder, and Perkz help Caps or Jankos. He is the X-factor that puts Vitality over the top and is really one of the big reasons that they are at the top of the table at all.
So what do you think? Which of these three would you select as MVP, and which rationale for selecting MVP do you subscribe to?
