After an incredible week 6 of professional Korean League of Legends where SKT showed a clean performance, how does the LCK look and for which teams might playoffs only remain a dream?

As the sixth week of the LCK concluded we can slowly but surely see which Korean League of Legends teams will have to worry about their playoffs spot. Though, just looking at the current standings can be tricky as some teams definitely have the potential to still reach that desired spot despite a currently negative record.

5. Kingzone DragonX (B)

Last year, this organization was hyped by millions of fans in Korea to lead the LCK into their glorious times again. Although their roster was stacked with famous high caliber players the team failed miserably and could not even qualify for Worlds. Times and rosters have changed and now we are looking at a different Kingzone which – again – has many great players though still struggles sometimes with the faced paced meta right now. Hopefully, they will not disappoint their fans immensely this time around, but the competition is even harder than before.

4. DAMWON Gaming (B)

Coming into this Split as one of the new organizations DAMWON Gaming were not expected by many to achieve great things. Now they are ahead of teams such as Kingzone and Hanwha and eager to achieve even more in their first LCK split. Especially midlaner Heo “ShowMaker” Su has shown us exceptional League of Legends with an overall KDA of 5.77 he surely is one of the star players in this roster. We are up to see what DAMWON can achieve with more time and practice in the LCK.

3. SANDBOX Gaming (A-)

League of Legends is in a very punishing and vast meta at the moment and this seems to fit perfectly for SANDBOX. They play very aggressively – too much at times – and are not afraid of trying out new things. Kim “OnFleek” Jang-gyeom is probably not only one of the best Camille players in the world but also an insane jungler overall as he dominated Afreeca Freecs’ Dread in their recent series. With more experience and maybe the ability to keep calm, this team could be one of the three to represent the LCK internationally.

2. SK Telecom T1 (A)

The “dream team” as they were called this year is on paper easily a top 4 contender at Worlds. Alongside coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun this organization has made an impact on League of Legends like nobody has before and probably will. In an interview, kkOma promised the fans to “(…) show the fans the performance that they wanted to see; a performance that they’ll be satisfied with.” and so far he held his word as they recently beat both KZ and Gen G. 2-0.

1. Griffin (S+)

The unbeatable and so far untouchable team in League of Legends Champion Korea. Griffin has not lost a single series so far and having only dropped one match against an aggressive SANDBOX they look like nobody will make them anytime soon. In 2018 they already showed what they are able to deliver dominating the CK with an overall record of 28-2. This team is stacked with brutal young talent and will not be satisfied until they win Worlds. We will need to wait for MSI to see if anyone can challenge them in their path to success.
