In honor of the new Cats vs. Dogs VS Event, we look at the best cat-themed skins in League of Legends.

League of Legends has a lot of unique skin lines, from Academy to Star Guardian to Project. Some are silly, others are creepy, and others just…suck. But some of the best skins have come from the Versus events.

Yesterday, Riot announced the beginning of the latest VS event – Cats vs. Dogs. The event not only brings us some cool missions and opportunities to get free loot, but it also introduces four new skins.

More from League of Legends

In keeping with the tradition of rivalries from the VS event, there are two of each type of skin being released. For the Dogs we have Fuzz Fizz and Corgi Corki. For the Cats, we get Pretty Kitty Rengar and Meowrick (a Yorick skin even though saying out loud initially had me confused and thinking it was a Warwick skin).

While I am always going to be #teamdogs, both in life and for the skin line (you’ll catch me rocking that Fuzz Fizz skin asap), if you’re a fan of the furry and don’t find these appealing never fear. Here are the best dog and cat skins in League of Legends outside this even that you can rock!

7. Feral Warwick

Ugh, this skin just looks so bland. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think it was the default skin for Warwick.

While most of these other skins at least give the respective champions a different feel and identity, this really just seems like Riot slapped a coat of paint on the base Warwick skin. Clean skin, gleaming armor, he hardly gives off the look of the “feral” version of the Uncaged Wrath of Zaun.

6. Leopard Nidalee

Similar to Feral Warwick, this skin feels just like a paint job to the base skin. However, I’ll elevate it above last because it’s more colorful and it’s named after an actual cat species.

5. Kitty Cat Katarina

Admittedly, this is the least of a “cat” skin on this list. This is more along the lines of what a college girl who wants to be a “sexy cat” wears at Halloween.

Still, it’s not hard to beat out the above-mentioned skins because at least this one looks like Kat dressed up for the occasion. I am a little miffed Riot didn’t leave the name as “Kitty Kat-arina” so the joke would be a little more nuanced.

4. Hyena Warwick

I’ll admit a little bit of bias here. Warwick is my main champion, and Hyena Warwick is probably my most-used skin. But this is “Hyena” Warwick and hyenas are cats, so this does count.

It’s not the flashiest or most creative skin, I’ll grant. I just can’t help it.

The Mad Max vibe with the engine block strapped to his back, and the direct quote from Fury Road just gets me so amped. It’s just such a glorious skin to hear that growl and chase someone down on.

3. Riot K-9 Nasus

I was surprised to find there weren’t a lot of dog champions or skins in my search through the League of Legends site. While he might affectionately be known as the “Doge” by fans of Trick2g, from the lore Nasus is technically a jackal-headed Ascended being.

And yes, this isn’t actually a dog skin for Nasus. Instead, it’s just Nasus in police gear, his scepter replaced by a police baton.

That said, we cannot in good conscience pass up on ranking a skin that has “K-9” in the title. Who’s a good boy with 600 stacks? You’re a good boy with 600 stacks Nasus, yes you are!

2. Big Bad Warwick

I know this one is a bit of a stretch, but technically this is a play on the “Big Bad Wolf” from Red Riding Hood. So the skin is technically a wolf skin and since wolves are canines (related to dogs) I’m gonna count it. And frankly, this is a skin that needed to be made.

It looks amazing, really capturing the fairy tale while still being expressive of Warwick the champion. He even has that awesome nightgown and those old lady spectacles. All the better to see you with Summoners.

1. Pug’Maw

Easily the most adorable skin on this list, Pug’Maw is almost mandatory for any pro player who breaks out Kog. This is the best Kog’Maw skin, bar none. It doesn’t hurt either that Kog’Maw’s basic character looks like a pug with his stupid, scrunched up face and tongue dangling out.
