LEC Playoff predictions
By Alexej Vogel
Going into the final round of the LEC’s first half everyone is wondering what to expect from the top 6 teams who made it. Here are my predictions.
If you had to rank the best European organizations of all time Fnatic certainly would be topping that list. After finishing second in last year’s Worlds many expected them to crush through the LEC, though, they highly disappointed and started the Split with a terrifying 0-4 record. Now they turned tables around and fought themselves up to third place which granted them the decision who to face first – and they chose Team Vitality.

When these two teams met the first time in week 2 of the LEC Fnatic got absolutely crushed and Team Vitality probably even enjoyed themselves seeing former rivals devastated like that. Nonetheless, Fnatic greatly improved one of the most important requirements in League of Legends to success – synergy.
On the other hand, Team Vitality did not keep up the pace and power they showed early on and even lost to an assuredly weak-looking G2 Esports. Things are not looking good for them and being chosen by Fnatic probably is not charming them up either.
However, we have not seen that new Fnatic roster in the LEC and in a best of five one or two tricks can turn things around quickly. With that being said, I do believe Team Vitality can bring up a fight – a good fight – but Fnatic is looking too strong and also too smart to lose this early against a rather weak team considering the standards.
Prediction: Fnatic
Splyce vs SK Gaming
When it comes to SK’s success in League of Legends everyone will first think of their jungler Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek. The same goes for Spylce’s ADC Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberupwho is not as young as the (most likely) rookie MVP though certainly an insane talent with sharp skills. Splyce is arguably the most consistent team in the LEC and has a long history of performing when needed – especially in the late-game which will come in handy in those long series. SK Gaming, on the other hand, has surprised many with their class and superb rookie, though, are lacking experience, especially for playoff series. Winning a single League match can be easy when getting an early lead, a vital fight or even lucky punch but playoffs require more than that – and I do doubt SK has what it takes to take 3 games from Splyce.
Prediction: Splyce
