League of Legends MSI breakdown: MVPs and LVPs from Day 1
By Josh Tyler
After one day of League of Legends action at MSI, who stood out as the heroes and goats of the play-in stage?
Day 1 of the MSI play-in stage has come to a conclusion, with eight games of League of Legends in the books. There were some players who stood out, both negatively and positively. Which players were our most (and least) valuable players on their teams in today’s action?
MVPs
Nguyễn “Palette” Hải Trung – Phong Vũ Buffalo (Support)
To me, Palette was the best player on the Rift today. His engages on Rakan were absolutely nuts allowing him to hard-carry some fights.

A lot of people point to his teammates like Hoàng “Meliodas” Tiến Nhật or Đặng “BigKoro” Ngọc Tài for how big they got in some games, but I saw each of those two make some crucial mistakes. Palette did not. As a result, he managed to enable those carries, even when they made mistakes, which is why he’s an MVP for the day.
Sebastián “Oddie” Alonso Niño Zavaleta – Isurus Gaming (Jungle)
Some people might say Meliodas was the best jungler on the day, but for my money that would be Isurus Gaming’s Oddie. His team really had little to work with and what little they did have, especially in the early game, was usually a product of his pressure. Sure, he had a terrible game against Bombers, but he followed it up with a godly performance on Hecarim in their upset over Fenabahce.
Victor “FBI” Huang – Bombers (ADC)
I think FBI’s performance today was a bit overhyped. People were talking about him like he was a God-tier ADC, when he didn’t have tons of huge “oh my God” moments in the first few games.
However, I cannot take away from him the fact that he played out of his natural mind in their upset win over Phong Vu Buffalo. The guy has accounted for almost 40% of all of Bombers’ kills, over 26% of their gold, nearly 30% of the teams damage, averages 478 gold per minute.
