Strength at each game stage

Strength in early game/laning – low/medium

It’s odd because Lulu actually has decent poke in her early game and her base stats aren’t terrible compared to someone like Sona. However, the laning phase is, statistically, Lulu’s weakest point.

It may be a function of Lulu really having no engage early on, and her shields being fairly mediocre against heavy damage lanes, making her susceptible to all-ins. It could also be that her kit scales very well with AP, meaning she’ll be weakest when she has very little utility there. In any case, Lulu has some issues making it out of laning phase.

Strength in mid game/skirmishes – high

Lulu’s strength is largely dependent around her massively impactful ult. Specifically, her R – Wild Growth is amazing when facing divers or assassins, who tend to thrive in that mid game when they can abuse vision and roam freely across the map.

Lulu can turn those picks and small fights with that ult, negating all that engage and burst. In addition, her speed up, shields, and polymorph all can help in those mid game fights.

Strength in late game/teamfights – medium

Once late game rolls around, Lulu starts to have some trouble. All of her big abilities – the shields, polymorph, and ultimate – are single-target abilities. This means that, while Lulu can be impactful by keeping a key carry alive, her abilities can only be used once and using them on the wrong target can be disastrous.

There is also the aspect that Lulu in late game will tend to be quite squishy, as she is usually going to build a fair amount of AP to boost her heals and shields. Combine that with the fact that she naturally counters assassins, who will also become less impactful in the late game, and Lulu’s utility becomes a bit less useful.
