League of Legends skin sale, week of June 17 – worth buying?

A new skin sale has started, so we’re breaking down which League of Legends skins are the best deals right now!

Riot announced on June 17 that a select number of League of Legends skins would be going on sale in the shop for the next week. We’re looking to see whether these skins are good, how rare they are, and how good the discount is to see whether they’re worth a purchase.

Sultan Gangplank

Rarity: Common
Discount: 50%
Quality: Meh
Should you buy it?: I mean, I guess. GP doesn’t really have a lot of skins, and few good ones, so if you’re a GP main looking for some variety there’s probably no better time. But this is a pretty mediocre skin I wouldn’t be itching to spend money on, regardless of the cost.

Firefang Warwick

Rarity: Common
Discount: 50%
Quality: Decent
Should you buy it?: Unlike Sultan Gangplank, most of Warwick skins are actually pretty decent. Firefang is probably one of his worst skins, but it’s not terrible. This is probably a good one to pick up at a hefty discount, especially if you main Warwick.

Officer Vi

Rarity: Common
Discount: 55%
Quality: Good
Should you buy it?: Sure. Officer Vi is a really cool skin that has some cool VFX and sounds. At such a big discount, I’d snap this one up if I don’t have her.

Lunar Wraith Sylas

Rarity: Epic
Discount: 27%
Quality: Decent
Should you buy it?: I guess. The skin itself isn’t that bad and it’s of decent rarity, but the discount just isn’t enough to justify it. However, this is the only Sylas skin, so if you’re a fan of his I wouldn’t say this is a bad purchase.

Atlantean Syndra

Rarity: Common
Discount: 60%
Quality: Bleh
Should you buy it?: If you don’t have a lot of RP and you want a Syndra skin, then I guess? Honestly this is probably only for Syndra enthusiasts or people who want to round out a collection or something.

Arclight Vel’Koz

Rarity: Epic
Discount: 50%
Quality: Good
Should you buy it?: Yeah. Arclight Vel’Koz is a pretty good skin (perhaps his best with Battlecast Vel’Koz) and at this big a discount I’d say it’s worth it. Great skin sale offering.

Odyssey Yasuo

Rarity: Epic
Discount: 50%
Quality: Bleh
Should you buy it?: Probably pass unless you’re a Yasuo main. This is probably his worst skin and even though you’re getting a good discount here you could spend that money so much more efficiently (you’ll only pay a couple hundred RP more to get High Noon Yasuo at full price).

Blood Moon Aatrox

Rarity: Epic
Discount: 27%
Quality: Meh
Should you buy it?: Nah. I mean, it’s a nice skin and all but you’re not getting a very big discount on it.

Siren Cassiopeia

Rarity: Classic
Discount: 35%
Quality: Bleh
Should you buy it?: No way. It’s an old skin and it’s not a limited release for this skin sale. At least with Atlantean Syndra you’re getting a hefty discount.

Omega Squad Fizz

Rarity: Epic
Discount: 45%
Quality: Meh
Should you buy it?: Probably not. I mean, the skin is fine, but Fizz has a lot of skins and a lot of skins better than this one. If you need it to fill out the Omega Squad set or get all Fizz skins, then sure, but otherwise save your money for one of his better skins.

Mecha Aurelion Sol

Rarity: Epic
Discount: 50%
Quality: Meh
Should you buy it?: Probably. Unlike Fizz, Aurelion Sol doesn’t have that many skins (2) and this one is his best kind of by default. If you don’t play A. Sol, feel free to skip this skin sale offering, but if you like playing the Star Dragon, yeah go for it.

Pool Party Taric

Rarity: Epic
Discount: 55%
Quality: Meh
Should you buy it?: I’d pass. In my opinion, Pool Party Taric is the worst of the Pool Party skins. If you’re a Taric main, he has better, cheaper skin options.

Rumble in the Jungle

Rarity: Common
Discount: 55%
Quality: Awesome
Should you buy it?: 100% yes! This is one of Rumble’s best skins (of which he has very few) and at this price point you’re getting a steal!

Pool Party Caitlyn

Rarity: Epic
Discount: 30%
Quality: Good
Should you buy it?: Probably not. It’s a good skin, but I’m hesitant to give it the full “go buy it now” because she has so many other great skins (Headhunter, Pulsefire, and Officer) and you’re not getting a great discount.

Piltover Customs Blitzcrank

Rarity: Epic
Discount: 55%
Quality: Good
Should you buy it?: Yeah sure. This is probably one of Blitz’s top three skins and you’re getting a pretty big discount. No reason to let a deal like this slip through your fingers.
