Who are the best League of Legends players in each position in the LCK after Week 2?

The Korean League of Legends scene is currently in a state of chaos, with Griffin – a team previously thought to be dominant – faltering and SKT – the reigning LCK champions – towards the bottom of the standings.

The Summer Split may still be young, but there are plenty of intriguing stories. From Afreeca’s rebound to the emergence of teams like Sandbox and Kingzone. We’ve profiled which teams we think have performed the best, so far, but which players have been carrying play.

More from International Tournaments

As we did with the LCS and LEC, we’ll be ranking every player in the LCK in each position. These rankings are based off our own proprietary statistics, developed from the traditional stats available for all major regions. We explained them a bit more in the first LCS breakdown, but you can see the full statistics here.

Top lane

1. Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon (Damwon Gaming)

For some reason, and I don’t understand why, Nuguri isn’t getting the hype he deserves. He’s been the best top laner in LCK through the first two weeks of play even though traditional KDA metrics don’t quite bear that out.

Instead, Nuguri has been ridiculously good at getting resources and turning them into leads. He has the highest damage per minute and a damage quotient that is ridiculously far ahead of any other top laner. Combined with how efficiently he can acquire gold in lane and throughout the game, Nuguri deserves to be put in the same breath alongside standouts like Kiin.

2. Kim “Kiin” Gi-in (Afreeca Freecs)
3. Choi “Sword” Sung-won (Griffin)
4. Park “Summit” Woo-tae (Sandbox Gaming)
5. Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee (Kingzone DragonX)
6. Lee “CuVee” Seong-jin (Gen.G)
7. Lee “Flame” Ho-jong (Damwon Gaming)
8. Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho (KT Rolster)
9. Kim “Khan” Dong-ha (SK Telecom T1)

In terms of big names who have underperformed so far in summer, none stands out more than SKT’s Khan. He was supposed to destroy the legacy of SKT top laners single-handedly destroying their team’s chance, not join them!

Yet here he is, towards the bottom of the rankings, in large part due to his high deaths and percentage of his team’s deaths, low kill participation, and averaging a deficit in almost every statistical category coming out of lane. Sounds very reminiscent to another, past SKT top laner who had a penchant for hard-carrying but also dying a lot who is now over in NA…

10. Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon (KT Rolster)
11. Park “Thal” Kwon-hyuk (Hanwha Life Esports)
