After a brief hiatus, the LEC returns to our screens this weekend with Week 4! Fnatic, G2, Splyce, and Origen all have exciting games lined up, but who will sit at the top of the table on Saturday night?

Five games. Five opportunities to get a step up over nearby opponents. A couple of one-sided match-ups are accompanied by highly anticipated head-to-heads on Friday, including the LEC Match of the Week between Splyce and SK Gaming.

The question is who will press their advantage in the return to the LEC studio, who will gain valuable wins and rise up the extremely tight Week 4 standings?

Rogue vs. Schalke 04

Well, you’ve got to start somewhere. A relatively drab match-up kicks off our Week 4 action as a much-improved Rogue roster take on the promising Schalke 04 in a battle that could see Spring’s 10th placed team leapfrog their opponents and secure a 3rd win, one more than they achieved in the whole of Spring.

It’s unlikely though, as despite the fact that Rogue looked replenished and revitalised in the opening of the Summer Split, they’ve since fallen astray and haven’t continued to build on the hard work from Weeks 1 and 2. In fact, the only teams Rogue have put aside so far are the awful Excel Esports and slow-starters Team Vitality. Compound that with the fact that they’re facing an excellent Schalke 04 side and the odds look highly stacked against Rogue in this one.

S04 cleanly dispatched Misfits Gaming in Week 3 and even took down 3rd place Splyce in Week 2, proving they’re a force to be reckoned with in the LEC. They won’t relish the prospect of a devastating loss against G2 Esports on Sunday, so quickly putting Rogue aside to focus on the bigger game on Day 2 is probably firmly in Schalke’s minds, and you’d be surprised if they didn’t do just that.

Prediction – Schalke 04 Win

Splyce vs. SK Gaming

The LEC Match of the Week! Yes, that’s right. Finally, a break from the monotonous G2, Fnatic, and Origen love-in, we can finally celebrate some of the other fantastic European teams that could potentially be fighting for a Worlds qualification place at the end of the season.

In fact, there’s no team more deserving of a Match of the Week highlight than Splyce as they’ve finally cracked the unbreakable top three and slotted nicely into 3rd place after taking down Origen in Week 3. The late game kings have continued to showcase their proficiency in 30-40 minute decisions making and teamfights, picking up 4 wins in the first 3 weeks and looking the most likely to dismantle the top three bastion in the run up to Worlds.

SK Gaming, on the other hand, have been nothing short of incredible since their return to the European top flight. A playoff place in their debut split is just the start for this talented line-up, as they look set to make it two splits in a row in the top six.

Both sides have their own merits and both have proven their worth so far in Summer. Nevertheless, the clear favourite heading into Friday’s featured match-up is Splyce. Their crisp co-ordination in the early game and ability to smoothly transition into the later stages has created a force to be reckoned with in the LEC this split. SK need to take an early advantage if they have any hope of shutting down the meticulous, focused machine of Splyce.

Prediction – Splyce Win
