Week 4 Day 1 opened up the LEC standings and created a clear top five and bottom five. Now the 6th-10th placed teams have their opportunity to close that gap and take down the teams above them on Week 4 Day 2.

It’s still all up for grabs seven matches into the LEC Summer Split as just one win separates each place in the standings (other than Excel at 10th). Fnatic may be on course for an 18-0 split, but G2 are close behind and it will undoubtedly be a photo finish for our first seed heading into playoffs.

More from League of Legends

The second day of Week 4 may not involve the most exciting match-ups in the LEC, but upsets are certainly on the cards as teams look to regain some momentum and climb towards the top half of the table. Fights for third and sixth are where we should keep our eyes on, as Splyce, Origen, and Schalke 04 linger just outside the top two, and SK, Rogue, Vitality, and Misfits all battle for the final playoff position. Here are who we think will come out on top in today’s clashes:

SK Gaming vs. Excel Esports

Both of these teams lost their Day 1 match-ups and head into Day 2 from the bottom half of the table. SK were undone by Splyce in another edition of Splyce in the Late Game, but there were some complaints about SK’s lack of proactivity throughout the game to stop Splyce’s snowball. Nevertheless, SK won’t be too disheartened by this result as they made very few individual mistakes and it was just a case of being shut down by an organised, meticulous late game team.

As for Excel Esports, they once again showed their early game prowess, but weren’t able to close it out as they fell at the final hurdle against Origen. This is the second time in as may games that Excel have led in the early game up against a tough opponent but failed to close the game out due to their lack of experience and shotcalling in the late game.

Expect plenty of action in the early game for this one. Selfmade will be looking to craft out opportunities for his solo laners, while Caedrel and Mickey will link up to make plays around the bottom lane early on. Ultimately it’s a case of whoever is leading at 10 minutes should win the game, unless Excel can’t close against the lower teams in the league. I think Excel are more capable in the first 10 minutes than SK and can see them taking this one, if their bad luck has finally run out.

Prediction – Excel Esports Win

Misfits Gaming vs. Team Vitality

Once again, these two teams failed to pick up wins on W4D1, but that was mainly due to the level of their opponents – G2 Esports and Fnatic. Today presents a real opportunity for both to get a step up over their opponent and generate a 1 win gap from 9th place.

At times both Misfits and Vitality look like they don’t know how to play League of Legends. sOAZ, Mowgli, Jiizuke, LIDER, Attila, Jactroll can all int at any moment and that’s hard to play around. Today’s game is a case of who can int less and who can play a clean early game and generate a gold lead in the bottom lane.

Comparing Maxlore/Kirei and Hans Sama to Mowgli and Attila is light and day in this case, as the Misfits team is in a much better position to create a lead through bot. It’s for this reason that MSF look like the more likely team to pick up a victory in Saturday’s game, but it will no doubt be a tight, messy affair.

Prediction – Misfits Gaming Win
